Our
Philosophy

Philosophy (Éro)

Our Yoruba Awareness Foundation was founded in October 2012 by a group of like minded individuals to promote Yoruba race. A liberal Yoruba group opened to anyone who identifies him/herself as a Yoruba person. This is our online meeting place, where we organize our activities, share ideas, and publicize our mission. We exist to serve the interest of Yoruba race in the Western region of Nigeria. Regions which include, Lagos state, Ogun State, Oyo State, Ondo State, Osun state, Ekiti state.Through our work we hope to achieve empowerment through sustainable legacy for our youths, kith and Kin through knowledge of Yoruba language, history and culture for residents and interested persons.

Our driving force is the need to preserve Yoruba culture and language outside the shores of Nigeria. Giving the migration pattern of recent times, multitude of Nigerians have migrated out of the country and have formed a large community in and around the United Kingdom.

With this migration pattern comes the growing of a substantive family hierarchy. We believe if nothing is done to preserve Yoruba Patriarch and matriarch culture in the Uk all cultural links to the motherland and fatherland will be lost. Therefore it becomes necessary and important to preserve the language by encouraging it's teaching and learning.
